This Grade 2 listed cottage had suffered many bad repairs with the use of cement based materials. Once all this was removed we carried out many brick repairs and repointed with a lime putty mortar. A breathable paint system was applied to the exterior restore its charming cottage look.
We worked closely with the client on this project. The aim was to restore the original inglenook and bread oven hidden behind numerous modern alterations over the years. Works included structural rebuild of sections of the inglenook, lime repointing and application of new lime plaster to the surrounding walls.
A charming stone built cottage located in the Cotswolds was in bad condition due to previous cement mortar repairs being carried out. This was decaying the soft cotswold rubble stone work. We carried out structural rebuilding to sections of the west gable and front elevation and careful removal of the existing cement mortar. The elevation was also repointed in a lime putty mortar. To the front elevation we applied a 3 coat lime render that was painted in traditional Casein limewash.
